Overview

(Southern Music). This composition was inspired by the old Christmas prints of Currier and Ives. It endeavors to recreate the emotional flavor and atmosphere of the Yuletide season of bygone days. Set against a wide expanse of snow is a farm house and approaching from the road is a horse-drawn sleigh. The mood picture is completed by the juxtaposition of sleigh bells and of a simple song-like melody with alternating sections in the style of Christmas carols. This new edition by Mark Rogers is the first to include a full conductor's score.
