The history of Hollywood is darkened by the stories of actors who were attracted to the splendor of movie and television careers, only to learn too late that the glitter was gold, but the lifestyle was deadly. Hindsight tells us this: extreme psychological damage often results from failure to realize the dream of achieving a successful career in the film or television industry. It is a soul-wrenching experience to achieve fame and all of its many accoutrements, and then lose it; to rise to stardom, and then fall back to commonality. There is danger associated with being in the public's eye, being the public's idol, for worship often leads to envy, and for some twisted minds, sometimes murder, and, of course, because Hollywood offers easy access to, and to some extent popularizes the use of drugs and alcohol, the weak fall victim.
