Reviews

I am so delighted that this long-awaited book has been published. It contains both theory and practical examples that I find ring true with my experience of working therapeutically with people with DID. These shocking but true stories bring humanity back to those treated in an inhuman way. The outline of care provision will bring tears of joy to some in being understood and sadness to others with their needs still unmet. This is an important book. -- (06/05/2017) Dr Patricia Frankish and Dr Valerie Sinason, two of the world's leading experts on the treatment and prevention of trauma, have produced a magnificent book about the complex and still often misunderstood subject of dissociative identity disorder. Written for service users and for professionals alike, this well-crafted and clearly structured text provides an immense amount of clear understanding of the phenomenology, the causes, the consequences and, moreover, about the most humane and sophisticated forms of treatment for dissociation. This moving and informative book deserves to become a standard text. I know of no other publication which approaches the subject of dissociative identity disorder with such compassion and intelligence. -- (06/05/2017)
