Author Information

Rolland McKellar was born in St Andrews, Scotland, but spent his formative years in New Zealand. He trained as a teacher and is a former school principal. He continues his interest in teaching on a relieving basis and works as a journalist for the Opunake & Coastal News (a community newspaper in Taranaki). He has also had work published in other newspapers and magazines. Winning the Lysaght-Watt Ronald Hugh Morrieson Literary Awards (open short story) in 2021 was a highlight, and he has been a finalist in other literary competitions. He is a graduate of Auckland, Canterbury and Otago University where he completed a PhD in Education. At present he lives in Okato, Taranaki, with his wife Stephanie, and is proud that their home was once the vicarage where the former Archbishop of New Zealand, and later Governor-General, Sir Paul Reeves, resided.
