History of the Postgraduate Programme in Education at UFMT (1987-2007)

Overview

This study focuses on the Postgraduate Programme in Education at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (PPGE/UFMT). Created in 1987 by Resolution No. CD 008/87, it is the first stricto sensu postgraduate programme in the state. In 2007, it celebrated its 20th anniversary, and it was fitting that, among the tributes paid to it on that date, there was a document that summarised its history, the vicissitudes it had undergone and the prospects it held for the future. The aim was to produce a historical investigation of the Programme, seeking to understand the disputes between the agents fighting for the conservation or transformation of this space for the production and reproduction of knowledge, as well as the main strategies adopted there. The research was guided by Pierre Bourdieu's concept of field, aiming to understand the power relations between the subjects that make up the structure of the PPGE.
