His love of horses drove him to the cattle business where in 1880, he joined a posse that was pursuing the notorious Billy the Kid. A year later Siringo helped a group of Texas cattlemen bust up a ring of horse thieves. In 1886, shortly after arriving in Chicago with his wife and young daughter, he joined the Pinkerton Detective Agency. There he helped convict several men responsible for the Haymarket Riots. This led to more work for Siringo, who would go on to solve many cases by using his skills as a horseman to go undercover and blend in. Retirement took him to Hollywood, where he was an advisor on the sets of many westerns. He died in October of 1928. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
