He retired from the Yakima County Public Works Department as operation manager. Esther was a fulltime volunteer with several non-profit ministries such as The Union Gospel Mission, Life Choices, the food bank, and others. For ten years, they served the Yakima Valley partners Habitat for Humanity. John as executive director and Esther as a volunteer working with the homeowners.
