Overview

This work looks at the rise in interest in the last 20 years, in teaching techniques of applied logical reasoning and critical thinking. It stresses that many universities are now using this skill at an introductory level, and to meet the need, informal logic has begun to form and grow as a discipline in its own right. Like other subjects, it helps if the subject can be situated within a context of historical development. This collection of essays seeks to provide the reading required to understand the development of this subject.
