Reviews

Written by Syrian-American scholar Alsaleh, this volume is an outstanding reference on the Syrian Civil War, which has been ongoing since 2011. The entries are objective in tone and strike an excellent balance between brevity and detail. Other very helpful features include a chronology, a list of acronyms and abbreviations, a lengthy and informative introductory essay, and an extensive bibliography that is reasonably up-to-date...Overall, this is an excellent resource on a very important topic. Readers from undergraduates to specialists will find it helpful. A useful acquisition for medium to large academic and public libraries, and for collections specializing in Middle Eastern studies or military/strategic affairs. Highly recommended. General readers through faculty; professionals.-- Choice
