Author Information

Richard Veit is professor of anthropology at Monmouth University in New Jersey. He is the author of Digging New Jersey's Past: Historical Archaeology in the Garden State and coauthor, with Mark Nonestied, of Stranger Stop and Cast an Eye: New Jersey's Historic Cemeteries and Burial Grounds through Four Centuries. With Maxine Lurie he co-edited New Jersey: A History of the Garden State. David Orr is an assistant professor and adjunct graduate faculty member in the department of anthropology at Temple University. He is coeditor, with Clarence Geir, of Huts and History: The Historical Archaeology of American Military Encampment during the Civil War and coeditor, with Daniel Roberts, of Witness to the Past: the Life and Works of John Cotter. Trained as a classical archaeologist, Orr has excavated sites ranging from Roman Pompeii to the American Midwest.
