Overview

Inside these pages you will find 115 photos--most never before seen by the public--of Glensheen, the historic Congdon estate along the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. Many of the images were captured in 1909, the year the Congdon's moved in, and show Glensheen just as Chester Congdon first envisioned the 22-acre estate. Others show Glensheen in the 1920s, after Chester's death, when Clara Congdon allowed much of the grounds to grow wild. Five percent of the publisher's sales of this book directly support Glensheen Historic Estate DISCOVER HISTORIC GLENSHEEN THROUGH PHOTOS OF: -More than half of the mansion's 39 rooms, including the reception room, library, den, living room, dining room, breakfast room, and the bedroom of every family member -The boathouse, gardener's cottage, and carriage house, as well as four greenhouses that have been lost to time -The estate grounds--including the stone bridge over Tischer Creek and the rustic wooden bridges that once traversed the creek and Bent Brook--and beyond to Congdon Park
