His Rebel Bride

Overview

Major Oliver Clarke, a military officer in the King's British Army, has been newly stationed in the colonies. With vast military experience, he was sent to the Americas in disgrace by his superiors after he refused a direct order that would have cost innocent lives. Upon arrival, he is shocked by the intense animosity toward redcoat soldiers and the visible discontent among the common people. As he witnesses the injustices around him, his discontent with British rule grows. When he encountered Constance Wilson, a beautiful merchant's daughter born and raised in the colonies, he feels an unexpected attraction. When she finds herself in trouble, her reputation in jeopardy, he proposes marriage. A week later, he find himself wedded to a woman he doesn't know if he can trust. Constance Winthrop embodies rebellion and defiance, firmly believing that the colonies can govern themselves. She works in her father's merchant shop, selling wares and gathering vital information to support the fight for freedom. Initially intrigued by Captain Clarke, she is acutely aware of his status as an enemy soldier. When she faces harassment from soldiers, her reputation is jeopardized. Captain Clarke intervenes, proposing marriage as a solution. Unsure of his trustworthiness but aware of her predicament, she reluctantly agrees. Initially planning to use her position to relay information to her father, she begins to see a different side of her new husband, making betrayal increasingly difficult to contemplate.
