His Brunette Alibi

Overview

This gripping true crime narrative recounts the author's harrowing experiences with her ex-husband, a serial killer with over 185 murder convictions. The story delves into the author's struggle with his psychological abuse, highlighting the author's repeated attempts to alert authorities and the ongoing impact of his actions. It explores specific incidents, such as a disturbing honeymoon and vacations to Canada. The author follows her senses to identify the smells and actions to fill in the dark spaces of time when the killer was out of view. The narrative weaves together documented events and new details, painting a complete picture of his manipulative and murderous behavior. As the author reviews the events through an older lens, she finds all too often that she was his brunette alibi. It's a story of survival, justice, and the enduring effects of psychological abuse. His Brunette Alibi has closed more murder cases than anything else in world history. Murders from 1984-2021.

Author Information

Karen Kaye Roberts was born in Battle Ground, Washington in 1965, the third girl when her parents tried for a boy. She started working at an auto repair shop at the age of four. She worked on her first car at the age of six. She graduated from BGHS in 1983 and attended Green River Community College. She took a shortcut through the woods when the Green River Killer was active. She moved to Seattle, and a dead body was found in the crawl space under her apartment. She attended Highline Community College and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. She crossed Meeker Street Bridge every day on the way from HCC to her apartment while the bodies were buried there. She attended Central Washington University for teacher certification and was regarded as a top student. At CWU, her apartment was one and a half blocks from Ted Bundy's fourth murder. Later she attended Central Washington University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. She attended Washington State University on a teaching assistantship. Due to the financial pressures of being a single parent, she left school to work in industry. She later went back to Washington State University and majored in mechanical engineering. Again, she was regarded as a top student, but for reasons WSU refused to disclose, she wasn't allowed to graduate. She was stalked, and he hadn't stopped. Finally, she aided in Daniel James Bondehagen's capture. In 2021, she declined the reward and negotiated for the right to publish her books internationally.
