He attended schools in Jordan and then got his Bachelors Degree in engineering from the University of Hartford, Connecticut. During the years 1992 to 2015, Mazen worked in shipping in various positions until eventually becoming CEO of a Shipping company with operations in Greece. It was during his tenor as CEO that this hijacking happened. Mazen lives in Amman, with his two sons aged 26 and 20.
