Overview

An avid reader, Tom Long sets out to read all the books in his local library, and finds his way into the Philosophy and Theology section, where his random selections lead him to unusual conclusions, and unusual answers to the big questions in human thought. Tom is a loner, raised on a farm in the Midwest. A friend to the wind, to a ghost, a seeker of truth, he caroms through America on life's journey, finding answers in unexpected places, and adventure in a country divided by Vietnam and cultural upheaval. Tom's travels intersect with the characters in Shards in the final chapters. The themes of shared perception explored in Shards are further explored, as Tom's experiences and insights influence the lives of Nick, Paul, and others. The story's ending - is only a beginning.
