Inadvertently, HESS had provided me a rare happy memory of my dad before he became ill. As a young boy going to the stations with him he had explained to me that because they just sell gas and don't actually fix cars there, they can be all 'white and clean.' I really felt like a big kid for understanding that at 5 yrs old. I loved both my 1976 box truck with oil drums and the 1977 tanker which meant the world to me. I can still picture a clear moment from 1977 as a child playing with my trucks on the red carpet in my room in the Bronx. Fast forward to 1993, not too long after my dad's passing I started to purchase a truck every year as a remembrance, but quickly got giddy like a kid in a candy store every time I drove past a station around the holiday time (you see, I didn't live close to any nearby stations, so that added something to my quest!) I hope this encyclopedia has entertained and educated you, as well as making your Hess collecting journey more fruitful. - Michael
