OverviewHerbert West, Reanimator is a horror story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, a master of horror and science fiction whose works around the early 20th century developed into a profound influence in those genres worldwide. This work was written between 1921 and 1922, and was first serialized in February through July 1922 in the amateur publication Home Brew and then later in Weird Tales in 1942. It was the basis of the 1985 horror film and one of the first depictions ever of zombies as reanimated corpses through science that go insane and want to kill. The narrator recounts his relationship with one Herbert West, who spirits him away to an abandoned farmhouse to experiment on dead corpses to bring them back to life through a special serum. And then all hell breaks loose. Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American writer of weird, horror, fantasy, and science fiction. He is best known for his creation of the Cthulhu Mythos, but his legacy is also apparent in terms like ""Lovecraftian horror"" and an enduring fandom, and Herbert West, Reanimator is one of his most popular works.
