Overview

Hemlock admires the Queenspeople with their knights and houses and gardens. But the missing Nowid-tree-loving forest guardians-are even more intriguing . . . especially for a boy born from a tree! But no one knows where the Nowid went, or why, and Hemlock must sneak into the Vaults-the forbidden underground library the Nowid left behind, to find answers about how to stop Lord Knox from clear-cutting his home, the Eldarwood Forest-or worse. From their first encounter, Knox uses Mentalism to inflict crippling fear on Hemlock. Eben Heasley grew up playing in the forests of rural NH. He worked in the backcountry for the Appalachian Mountain Club, thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail (trail name, Stepping Stone), taught 3rd grade for over a dozen years, and helped raise two remarkable sons. Aside from writing, he enjoys carpentry, playing harmonica and guitar, strategy board gaming, regular meditation, and admiring The Sky Building People. He lives in Candler, NC with his wife, Dawn.
