John Antal retired as a full colonel following thirty years of active duty in the U.S. Army. During his career he commanded combat soldiers at every level from platoon to regiment. In 2003 he was the founding editorial director for the military history magazine Armchair General, where he continues today as a contributing editor. An accomplished writer and military historian, Colonel Antal's credits include Armor Attacks, Proud Legions, and Forests of Steel.
