OverviewTransportation is the art of going, and this holds true for railway locomotion; focused as it is on momentum and energy. But one cannot ignore the unsung (for railways at least), black art of stopping; one of the railroad industry's true technical specialties that is not often examined in depth. With over 400 pages and 300 illustrations, He'll Never Stop That Train In Time! is an encyclopaedic reference containing exhaustive information about equipment in particular and the subject area in general. It is a plenary work of thorough research, embracing unabridged facts and history never previously collated in a volume of such scope. Written and compiled by an accomplished 40-year veteran of railway operations both within and outside of Australia, the book's historical and operational narrative balance the comprehensive technical descriptions of air brake equipment. The story provides the reader with an in-depth understanding of the technology, the story of its development, and its application into operational service. The book is presented in soft card covers, large format, in full colour throughout. Extensive, explanatory footnotes serve to expand on information presented and contribute to this comprehensive warehouse of railway air brake facts, figures, and commentary for both the professional railroader and rail enthusiast.
