Venture into a bitter queen's glittering court, where dreams glisten while the wicked listen... I am the first queen in centuries to fail at my task: instead of our seven future kings, I birth only a single girl. This is the harbinger of our doom, but my stupid child still learns swordplay and thinks to rule our seven walled cities alone! Even after I pit the entire court against her, she roots for help among the nothings. She tries to make an ally of the rebel leader, but he, though he has won the hearts of the masses, has sworn a blood vow to end my daughter-and, thereby, our bloodline. I, though, refuse to fold my decrepit body on the altar of defeat. I still have my king-a disgusting cur, but still a man invincible until the future kings are born. And despite my madness, and my dispatching of assassins after our daughter, my king, the cryptic man, will not scorn me. He has, in fact, cast a spell to keep me from ending myself, which locks me along with him in this wedded torment. We may yet bear the seven kings... presuming the wayward rat returns to my bed, and presuming I let the vermin in. But I have a deeper secret: a bargain with our beautiful, sharp-toothed foe. CONTENT WARNINGS: Aside from the requisite killing and violence present in most fantasy, this has near SA (aborted by the assailant), mentions of suicide and suicide ideation, mention of violent domestic abuse, mentions of miscarriages and stillbirths, one baby's soul taken out, one magical abortion of babies that turn out to be monsters, and cremation of a very, very bad man. COMFORT WARNING: There is a very cute dog. I am not a dog person, yet here we are.
