Heir of Jerusalem

Overview

Jerusalem, 12th Century. The Crusader Kingdom is young, volatile and surrounded by enemies. At its heart stand Melisende, the intelligent and string-willed daughter of King Baldwin - raised not as a pawn, but as an Heir. Educated in languages, law and statecraft, Melisende understands that survival in the medieval world demands more than courage. As political rivalries intensify, alliances fracture and the threat of war looms ever closer, she is forced into a dangerous game where marriage is a weapon, loyalty is uncertain and one misstep could cost her the crown - or her life. While powerful men compete for control of Jerusalem, Melisende begins to assert her own authority, challenging tradition and expectation in a society that was never meant to be ruled by a woman. Her choices will shape the future of a Kingdom balanced on the edge of chaos. Based on the true story of Queen Melisende of Jerusalem, this richly detailed historical novel brings the Crusader states vividly to life, blending court intrigue, medieval politics and a compelling female protagonist whose legacy will echo through history.
