Yerucham Reich, known professionally as Raymond Reich, MD, was born in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, a year after his parents, Shimon and Chana Reich, Holocaust survivors of Polish-Galitzian Chassidic background, arrived in the USA. He attended Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan and holds a BA from Yeshiva University and an MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He received his postdoctoral training at Brookdale University Medical Center (Internal Medicine), SUNY Downstate Medical Center (Ophthalmology), and Harvard Medical School (Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery). He is founder and director of Reich Medical and Surgical Eye Care in Brooklyn, New York, and assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Downstate Medical School, as well as co-author of a widely acclaimed medical textbook. He is married to the former Sue Hilsenrad and is father to five children and multiple grandchildren.
