Overview

To my Heart - my steadfast companion. Thank you for beating bravely through every season. For all that you've held, all you've healed, and all you continue to offer with such tenderness and truth. At the outset of this project, one guiding truth rose up within me: Let Love Lead. Across the many seasons of my life - the ones that left me scattered, stretched thin, or far from myself - the call that echoed again and again was the same: return to my Heart. The Heart A powerful force. It encompasses so very much. Heart as a place of strength. Heart as an unwavering sanctuary. Heart as pain, as grief, as ache, as sacrifice. Heart as compassion, as care, as consideration. Heart as love - in how we show up for ourselves, in friendship, in relationship, through our actions. Heart as hope, as faith. Heart as connection. Heart as learning to trust, again, and again and again. Heart as openness, as curiosity. Heart as a big warm welcome. Heart as acceptance. Heart as passion. Heart as remembering. Heart as Home. As I opened this sacred container, I was giddy with the intention of putting my Heart centre stage: giving her the attention and listening ear that she deserved. Within the safety of my female friendships, I have unravelled parts of myself, been met with compassion and heart and wisdom. I have discovered the foundations for relationship - for meeting each other in our real raw humanness and been shown ways we can hold each other through impossible situations. I have taken sage from their lived experiences and reflected on my own learnings. My circle is wide and deep, and I am proud of the friendships I have fostered. A beautiful grouping of these friends shared of themselves in this first collection and I honour them and their stories, now and always. When the women said YES to my invitation, I was so moved. Touched that they connected with the idea, honoured that they felt the call, delighted that it meant we would be sharing such intimacy together. I trusted their 'Yes'. I trusted their curiosity and their willingness to go into the realms that only creative self - reflective journeys can hold. I knew the courage it was asking - courage to meet parts of ourselves, courage to move gracefully through any resistance and negative self - talk to bring back the gems of alchemising their worlds to cathartically release, reflect, create and share with you all. And such potent sharing too - what a deep ask! At times it met resistance. Oh the power of our inner dialogues: What do I have to say? Who would want to read my words? Is it good enough? I am a story collector, ever curious and always asking questions, hungry for the details, here for the full spectrum of the experience. I believe that there is something to learn from everyone; that every one of us has something to share. I have been privy to these women's stories, to witnessing chapters of their lives. I have learnt from their wisdom and it was part of my intention to platform that in this collection. I wanted to selfishly put their stories together in a bundle and have my very own curated book of wisdom that I could sit with and return to; that I could open up to any page and read their words, bask in their wisdom and follow the threads connecting me back to my own Heart. I hope that this book offers you many gorgeous moments with your heart, dear reader. May you enjoy the journey of soaking in our words, taking time to be with our visual creations. May you feel the depth of love from these women and their beautiful offerings engulfing you in a big heart to heart.
