Overview

With increased life expectancy, initiatives that increase the chances of healthy and independent ageing are becoming increasingly important. Organised into three parts, consisting of an introduction and two scientific articles, 'Health Conditions of Brazilian Seniors Aged 80 and Over' addresses the characteristics of long-lived seniors residing in a medium-sized Brazilian city. This work is the result of years of research, and all of its assessments were carried out at the Centre for Studies and Laboratory for the Assessment and Prescription of Motor Activities (CELAPAM) of the Department of Physical Education at FCT/UNESP - Presidente Prudente. Updated and focused on the reality of the Brazilian population, the work will be of great use to health professionals who work with long-lived elderly people.
