Born in Detroit, Martin Berman-Gorvine grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs. He attended the University of Chicago, where he received a B.A. in English Language and Literature. He later received a master's degree in teaching from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He lived in Israel for several years, and currently resides in Maryland with his family.
