Overview

It's 1867 and the Munros have lost their entire homestead to a wildfire. The whole family-Moses, Grandma, Pa, Ollie, Judith, and newlyweds Jimmy and Celine-flee north and return to Rupert's Land. Desperate for work, Moses, Jimmy, and Celine gratefully accept the offer to guide an expedition for an English professor looking for dinosaur fossils near the forks of the Red Deer and South Saskatchewan rivers. But when one of the members of the expedition is murdered, the Munros begin to suspect that all is not as it seems. And it becomes ever clearer that they have unwittingly become involved in an international conspiracy with connections to an event from 35 years ago, when Moses was a trapper in the Rocky Mountains.

Author Information

Del Pratt is a semi-retired cattle rancher. He and his wife Sheila live on the ranch that his family homesteaded in 1910, northeast of Oyen Alberta. Along the way Del has trained horses, driven school buses, spent a winter chaining seismic lines (before GPS), drove ambulances, ran a custom fencing business, and worked as a seed specialist for a forage seed company, all to raise a family and support his ranching habit. Del has written and performed cowboy poetry since 2009, and his first novel The Long Ride was published in 2023.
