Overview

A thousand years has passed since Pavo, Syrinkar, Tandor Retz and Grand Mistress Lara defeated the last of the Narajat Sisterhood. Ashnafar of Bel Hyran has been rehabilitated by the Children of Winter and has passed through the Dimensional Portal into the pristine world of Harmony with her wife, Taynala Dhex. Tandor Retz has also gone to Harmony to seek new adventures and new romances. But a new threat looms over both Karajan and Harmony. On the distant world of Oontajar, the eighth planet of the blue-white supergiant star Anora, a race intelligent, peaceful crab-like creatures are dying, their planet becoming colder as its orbit takes it too far outside Anora's reach. Desperate to survive, the Oontajari plan to send an expedition 90 astronomical units to Karajan. Mhalathorna warns Pavo that if the Oontajari are able to live on Karajan, and to reproduce, their offspring will consume all of Karajan's resources and then threaten Harmony, not out of malice, but the need to survive. Pavo, Syrinkar, Grand Mistress Lara and the Snow Tigers, elite Anshakari soldiers, must stop the Oontajari, preferably without resorting to violence. Join Pavo and his diverse group of friends and companions on a world-spanning journey of adventure as they seek to dissuade the alien beings from using their worlds as a breeding ground. This final adventure of Karajan concludes both the Pavo novels and the Nyren Halff stories, bringing them all together for one last, grand and glorious series of harrowing trials and unexpected triumphs.
