OverviewThis book offers a unique philosophy that is a world away from traditional muscle-busting gyms or exercise classes that go for 'the burn'. Our goals are easily summed up by two mottos: unwind body and mind and empower body and mind . We believe that for most of us to get fit or stay fit - both mentally and physically - we don't need to go to gyms or aerobics or dance classes. We're not saying don't go to them - if you enjoy them that's great. But most people who take the plunge and join do not enjoy them, and the drop-out rate is high. Health clubs make a lot of money from people who join, pay their signing up fees and their monthly subs, and don't go. Madness. For the majority of us, 'fit' means keeping our body as flexible as possible, especially as we get older. We have reasonably strong muscles. We can breathe without gasping for breath when we carry out a little extra work. We know how to relax - properly. We can keep our stress under control. We are able to take a positive attitude towards our lives. And, finally, sensible but enjoyable eating. We will show you simple ways to achieve all of these objectives. What's more, they will be easy to learn and action. You will enjoy them - honestly. And you will be able to incorporate them into your daily life - no matter how busy you might be. Surrounded by such musical legends it was only natural that he became... an accountant. As a Chartered Accountant, Laurence has spent his whole working life in business and accountancy. He really was that stressed man in Chapter 1 and has suffered many misfortunes and personal tragedies in his life. It was these events that made him re-assess his life and re-balance work and family. He has also spent most of his life doing youth work. His efforts and insights, combined with a study of human physiology, has made him perfectly placed to promote a positive message to unwind body and mind. Kevin Murphy was born in Cardiff in the sixties when the Space Race and lunar landings were front-page news. Kevin believes that however many advances science has made and the answers it has given, it has never given a satisfactory answer to what it is to be human. This spurred him to study philosophy, religion, and languages, gaining degrees in philosophy and German. His thirst for knowledge continued as his studies moved into other areas. It was during his education in Aikido as a means of self-awareness, rather than self-defence, that convinced Kevin that one of the key areas of life is balance. His study of languages has led him to believe that humans are designed to communicate with each other and internally - something that, in a media-fuelled world, we have lost sight of. Kevin is a practical man. He believes that a truth, however profound, is useless if it cannot be applied to daily life. This belief was formed following two decades of his regular job: driving trains. It's a job he also performed for the British Army part-time in Germany. The balance of practical application with sound reasoning is the key principle Kevin brings to the collaboration with Laurence Cohen. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
