Overview

Focusing on the delivery of paediatric psychological services in schools, this handbook is divided into eight sections that reflect the areas of pediatric psychology as it is practiced in school settings. The sections include: basic background issues, unique issues about disease prevention and health promotion, diseases encountered in schools, developmental disorders and conditions, health issues related to development, school interventions for paediatric psychological problems, special topics related to paediatric psychology in schools, and professional issues in paediatric psychology as it is practiced in schools. Written by outstanding leaders in the field, the chapters of this handbook clearly underscore the needs of children with chronic conditions and their families. They show the training necessary for professionals and future generations of professionals who aspire to work with these children who are challenged by special needs in schools.
