Reviews

As someone who struggles with anxiety, perfectionism, and the concepts of home and identity, Whitney's story is painfully familiar. Her prose is lush and evocative, making the resonant moments powerful enough to make you pause re-reading and share clips and phrases with friends and loved ones both. Brava, Whitney, for your courage in putting your heart and more-than-half wild spirit out there for the world. May it reach younger versions of us all who need it so that they might find a way home or a path forward through your stories. - Clair McLafferty, author of Romantic Cocktails I LOVE this book! I read the last half in one day because I could to put it down, and have already bought another copy to give to a friend. Whitney writes with the nuance, wit, and authenticity of that rare bird who is both brilliant and relatable. What she notices about herself and others, including things most of us would surely prefer not to notice, is remarkable. And the fact that she can weave those observations into stories from her life that you will get completely sucked into, as if you were right there with her, is icing on the cake. Oh, and she's hilarious. I laughed out loud reading this. Many times. -Tara W. A unique look into the life of a nomad searching for home. A true coming of self. While at times the story is sad, the ending is nothing short of triumphant. So proud of Whitney for putting this out into the wilds. -Patricia H. Whitney has a gift: to be able to convey in eloquent writing her emotional life journey, as if you were experiencing it right there alongside her. Her book tells a compelling and interwoven story of life, messy as it might be at times, as we all can relate. But she embraces who she was and who she has become with her powerful voice and vulnerable self. Highly recommend! -Amazon Reader

Author Information

Inspired by mythology and powerful wanderlust, Whitney spent her early life traveling in search of a place that felt like home. Her adventures led her further and further from her true residence which she ultimately found in a small, beating space within her chest. She writes to make sense of a complex world and to function as a channel for the muse, which loves it when she lets her eyes roll back in her head and her fingers dance wildly across the keyboard. Whitney graduated with a degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Colorado, where she put on a masterclass in procrastination and binge drinking. She currently works remotely as a strategic content manager for a technology startup accelerator where she builds storytelling frameworks for entrepreneurs. She loves a good system, which she is working on implementing for her personal blog and newsletter, published under the HALF WILD name at haldwilddispatches.com. Whitney loves dogs, dinner parties, and talking to strangers. She is passionate about exploring how to eat, live, love, and travel well. She is happily settled-for the moment-in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
