Habits for Healthy People

Overview

Habits for Healthy People presents readers with a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of stress, trauma, resilience, and their impact on everyday health and wellness. This book examines the unique features and impacts of stressors, examining the difference between eustress ('good' stress) and distress ('bad' stress). It explores stress's effects on various areas of life including personal and professional relationships, and behavioral and physical health, alongside cognitive theory principles to develop a deeper understanding of stress responses and coping strategies. It further explores identity development within complex environments, considering the importance of cultural, racial, and gender influences and how these intersect to shape personal identity. The book facilitates personal growth by integrating introspective exercises and meaningful discourse to enhance self-awareness and promote inclusivity. It also navigates the complexities of modern communication, elaborating on the importance of authentic interactions for cultivating healthy relationships. Habits for Healthy People is suited for courses in psychology, counseling, and human development, providing students with practical exercises and critical analysis frameworks. It serves as a valuable tool for instructors focusing on stress management, resilience, identity development within multicultural contexts, and the foundations of interpersonal communication.
