Overview

In this whimsical tale of the importance of responsibility and maturity, four young gymnasts attend their weekly gymnastics class with their instructor, Coach Wendy. When they meet Sammy, a visitor to their class, the kids instantly adore him. It doesn't take long for them, however, to see how silly he is! But what Sammy doesn't realize is that in order to have a fun and safe experience in the gym, it's imperative to listen to your coach and not to treat the gymnastics equipment like a playground. Sharon Cooper worked with children as a gymnastics coach in Sonoma County, California for 12 years. It was during these years coaching kids that she was inspired to write and illustrate her first children's book, Gymnastics Day with Silly Sammy. She is excited to share Gymnastics Day with gymnastics fans everywhere, and is working on a second gymnastics-themed book. Sharon is self-employed as a child care provider, is a mother of three fully grown sons, and still does gymnastics coaching on a part-time basis.
