OverviewGwendolyn Brooks was an award winning poet from the Bronzeville neighborhood on Chicago's south side. She won a Pulitzer Prize for her second book of poems, Annie Allen. This monologue uses many of her poems and her writings of her memories and techniques of poetry. It certainly is not a comprehensive biography. The attempt here is give the reader or listener the feeling that they knew Gwendolyn Brooks. A taste of who she was. This project is especially meaningful to me because she was my poetry instructor. So some of this material is from the notes I took of her lectures at that time.
