Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationMary Beth Broussard's love of reading came from her family's many trips to the Alexandria Public Library in Louisiana. She initially worked as a journalist but later returned to school to become an occupational therapist working with children with special needs. After working as a travel therapist, she and her husband, Craig, decided to make Lafayette their home, enjoy the Cajun culture, and start a family. Mary Beth found a way to combine her love of books, Cajun culture, and children, and Gumbo Weather was the happy result. A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, artist Paul Schexnayder is frequently featured as a festival poster artist, and his work has been placed in galleries and shows throughout the state. The author/illustrator of four previous children's books, including The Gumbo Gators, published by Pelican, he has worked as a visual arts teacher in area schools since 1989.
