He is the author of several articles on archival administration and two guides to holdings of the Western History Collections at the University of Oklahoma. DeWitt was an archivist at the Arizona Historical Society, the National Archives, and the University of Wyoming before accepting his current position as curator of the Western History Collection at the University of Oklahoma.
