Overview"A true account of growing up as a child of Holocaust survivors (unfortunately too many other such experiences have never been recorded). The book includes reviewing my parent's early childhood years in Poland, how they escaped from the Nazi grip by fleeing to Russia, life in Russia during the war years 1939-1945, our escape from Russia, our years in displaced persons camps, first in Vienna and then in Germany, the search for a Country that would accept our family, our new home in a foreign land and the challenges we faced adapting to life in North America life. The book also focusses on my years growing up as a child of holocaust survivors (including meeting and marrying the love of my life, my wife of over 45 years, whose mother survived being in Auschwitz and escaped during the long march from that death camp, and whose father was forced to provide slave labor during the second world war) and my views on religion as they have evolved based on my life's experiences. It was originally written for my children and grandchildren, to record our recent family history so that they will always know where they came from and what my parents (their grandparents ) and many other Jews went through, their only crime being their religion. Hopefully that will help them gain a better perspective on life and help them in leading a more meaningful one. I have decided to share it with the public so that, hopefully, a reader will gain an better perspective on life, will help to ensure that we do not repeat the errors and tragedies of the past and focus instead on what is important as we pass though on this journey called life. This thought was captured in my Book Of Rhyme ""Au Revoir"" by the following extract: Remember material things come and go, Retain what taught, that always will you know, What you sow is what you will reap, Happiness, but also at times will weep. As into this life you came, you will also leave, Nothing materialistic, but do not grieve, If in life you have achieved all the good you can, What more can be asked of any woman, man."
