Overview

Growboxes solve so many gardening challenges when it comes to growing and producing food in difficult places. They can even be used on a balcony, small courtyard, or in places that flood during heavy rains. Are you tired of battling the weeds, ants, nematodes, and not having enough organic matter in your soils to grow vegetables that thrive? Do you live on a sandbar, in the desert, in a flood zone, or want to grow herbs or veggies but you live a transient lifestyle or in an apartment? Do you work long hours and don't have enough time or space for a raised bed garden? Then the Growbox may be the answer for you. Easy to make with a few tools, the Growbox contains all the water and nutrients that a veggie plant wants, when it wants it. They are portable which means you can move them. Easily made from containers and supplies you can purchase from local stores, the Growbox is the answer to growing veggies in your suburban yard without having to dig it up. Conserve water, nutrients, and a lot of your energy, and save money too! Bonus section includes instructions for building Worm Composters, using the same tool set, and instructions on how to raise Red Wiggler composting worms. Red Wigglers make the best compost in the least amount of time.

Author Information

Suzanne Richmond and her partner Andrew Malone, from the Bahamas, own and operate Funky Chicken Farm in Melbourne. Together they slog through the rainy times, pray during the drought times, sweat profusely during the summertime, and give thanks to the Poultry Goddess for all the wonderful chicken blessings that come their way. At the farm they raise chickens, pigs, rabbits, and composting worms. They teach classes on how to raise small farm animals, how to grow vegetables in a sub-tropical climate, fermentation, and others. Suzanne is an avid speaker in her local community and has written articles for Orlando Examiner and other publications.
