Environmental problems do not respect international boundaries, and as a consequence, environmental issues are increasingly a matter for negotiation in which the role of international law is crucial. However, the law itself and the accompanying institutions are only beginning to recognize the full implications of the issues. Greening International Law is a collection of essays by leading legal scholars and lawyers, who asses the extent to which the law and legal institutions have been “greened” and discuss the ways in which these laws will have to adapt to deal effectively with the issues now arising.
