Prior to joining the institute, she has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of environmental and resource engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU Sustain). She holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), India, M.Tech. in structural engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, and B.Tech. from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, Odisha. Her research interests include sustainable construction materials, recycled concrete, structural reuse, microstructure properties of concrete and structural performance of reinforced concrete elements. She has published over 10 journal papers, book chapters and conference papers. Sudhirkumar V. Barai is the Director and Senior Professor of Civil Engineering at BITS Pilani-Pilani campus, Rajasthan, India. He is also a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He obtained Ph.D. (Engg.) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore. He received the degrees of B.E. (Civil) and M.E. (Civil) with a specialization in structural engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, MS University of Baroda, Baroda. He was Erskine Visiting Fellow at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand between May - June 2008. He was also visiting scientist at the National University of Singapore during May - July 2003. He was the recipient of BOYSCAST fellowship and visited the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA between May - November 2000. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Solid Mechanics, Materials and Structures, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel between February 1997 - July 1998. His areas of research are sustainable construction materials, structural health monitoring and computational intelligence in engineering. He has published more than 250 papers in leading international journals and conference proceedings in areas of research.
