Greater Reset: Reclaiming Personal Sovereignty Under Natural Law

Overview

From a hidden spark in the early days of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic soon roared across every nation, decimating lives, economies, and social norms. Rather than uniting people to defeat a common enemy, the pandemic has widened economic, political, and social divisions everywhere. It has pitted faith against reason and inflamed the global scourges of poverty, racism, war, and environmental destruction. The pandemic has also surfaced proposals to remake the global economy and society. Most notable--and notorious--are a set of recommendations from the 2020 World Economic Forum calling for ""the Great Reset."" Blending welfare state socialism and monopoly capitalism, this would systematically eliminate a fundamental bulwark of personal independence and freedom--the universal right to, and rights of, private property. Is the Great Reset the scheme of a vast global elite to control the lives of ordinary people or a well-intentioned but dangerously misguided approach to correct systemic ills? Regardless, there is a question we all must ask: How will the dignity, freedom, and power of each human person be protected and promoted when universal human rights and their Transcendent Source have been rendered irrelevant? In The Greater Reset, Greaney and Brohawn trace the historical, religious, political, and economic roots of humanity's perilous condition and how returning to God-given, universal principles of natural law, with equal access to the institutions of the common good, can help build a more just, liberating, prosperous, and hopeful future for every person.

"""The Great Reset is the New World Order rebranded. It's an attempt to scare people to live another way--that is, to wear masks, take an injection, embrace digital IDs, and soon digital fiat currency. It's an open conspiracy that one can read in the books and podcasts of NWO proponents. What can we do about it? Greaney and Brohawn provide practical solutions to counter the Build Back Better agenda. From their work at the Center of Economic and Social Justice, the authors are keenly aware of how unbacked or debt-backed currency leads to concentrated power. The Reseters will tell you, 'You will own nothing, ' while the authors declare, 'Own or be owned.'"" --Steve Cunningham, founder of Sensus Fidelium ""The right to pursue happiness, enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, requires us to make rational and moral choices for our own good and the common good. Challenging the collectivist 'Great Reset, ' this book, which I support, proposes a 'Greater Reset.' It applies natural law principles centered on the dignity of each human person and advocates empowerment to own property individually or in association with others."" --Deacon Joseph B. Gorini, Catholic clergyman, former methods engineer and corporate executive, and former US Marine NCO. ""This book forces us to ask if the reset being proposed after the lockdown is in fact a reset at all, or perhaps is actually a retrenchment of inadequate Keynesian policy prescriptions. The Greater Reset is a consideration of what economic personalism and the natural law may have to offer. I am not at all sure that binary economics is the answer, but the refreshing manner in which the argument is made invites a serious conversation which has been lacking up until now. It will be intriguing to watch."" --Father Robert Sirico, president emeritus of the Acton Institute ""This book is based on sound research of the roots and history of Catholic social and economic teaching. Expanded ownership tools like capital ownership accounts (COAs) and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) are the just third way beyond failed coercive socialism and rigid capitalism. Peter Maurin, the founder of the Catholic Worker movement, wanted to 'build a new society within the shell of the old.' This is the way."" --Geoffrey Gneuhs served as chaplain to Dorothy Day and the New York Catholic Worker. He is an artist and lives in New York City."
