Like many, the first animal he hunted was the white-tailed deer. Paul is a dedicated deer-tracking enthusiast, and he has written a book on that subject. In addition to his exploits in pursuit of North America's most-hunted animal, Paul has hunted and taken numerous big-game animals from Mexico to Alaska, many with a muzzleloading rifle. Besides whitetails, his other hunting passion is wild sheep, and the mountains they inhabit. He has two Grand Slams of North American wild sheep to his credit, one of which was accomplished using a muzzleloader sporting open sights--the first and only time this is believed to have been done. Paul is married to Janet, his wife of thirty-four years. They have two grown sons and currently live in Dalton, Massachusetts, where they enjoy their country home and the wildlife that frequents the property--especially the deer.
