Overview

Great American Fanfare was commissioned by the 2012 Great American Brass Band Festival to celebrate and salute one of America's most renowned performers, Vincent DiMartino, on the occasion of his retirement at Centre College. The work is written for 10 trumpets that can be arranged as two antiphonal trumpet choirs. This majestic fanfare is easily suited for multiple doubling of parts to form massed trumpet forces, as evidenced during the premiere performance where numerous former DiMartino students from all over the country participated in this tribute.
