OverviewThis conference honours Edoardo Amaldi for promoting and actively participating in gravitational wave research. It brings together scientists engaged in research both with gravitational wave antennas and neutrino telescopes. Special emphasis is placed on the recent developments of resonant cryogenic antennas. The very nature of gravitational wave research requires that the various experiments in the world be considered as part of one world-wide project. This meets both the needs for reducing noise by coincidence techniques and for implementing a network of several widely spaced antennas to determine the polarization, direction and speed of propagation of gravitational waves.
