Overview

The purpose of this book is to provide directory information about foundation and corporate grant makers supporting nonprofit organizations in South Africa. Most of the listed grant makers are based in South Africa. More than 130 of the funding opportunities are listed and are suitable for nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, nonprofit corporations, libraries, schools, educational institutions, government agencies, information centers, and other organisations. Since the majority of grant makers do not specify the amount of grants available, applicants can inquire prior to submitting their request for funding. The directory is divided into four parts: 1) Introduction, 2) Foundation and Corporate Grants, 4) Community Foundations, and 4) Managed Funds. The entries for the foundations and corporations are listed alphabetically by name of foundation or corporation under each section. Each entry has the following fields: Foundation of Foundation Name, Fund Name, URL, Contact, Email, Postal Address, Physical Address, Amount, Description, Eligibility, Requirements, Requirements, Ineligibility, and Deadline. Some foundations do not have all the necessary information on their web sites. For example, some entries do not have grant amounts, contact information, and closing dates for applications. For this reason these entry fields are left out where information is unavailable. Most of the information provided is from the websites of the corporations and foundations. The appendix provides a description of some of the abbreviations used and the index provides a list of foundation and corporation names. The Webliography of Grant Writing Resources at the end of the book lists free electronic books and articles that are useful for beginners and experienced grant writers. This book is suitable for all types of grant organizations and institutions.
