Her areas of research interest are: social responsibility of small businesses, corporate social responsibility in developing countries, women entrepreneurship, poverty and sustainable development. She has published her work in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Business Ethics, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Journal of Public Policy and marketing, Australian Journal of Management, European Management Journal, International Journal of Public administration, and Thunderbird International Business Review. She has also presented at numerous international conferences and is currently serving as a member of the Editorial board of Social Responsibility Journal, a fellow and member of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Peer Review College UK, and has won Emerald Literati Network Highly Commended Paper Excellence Awards in 2014 and 2013. Dr. Habib Zafarullah is retired faculty of Sociology at the University of New England (Australia).
