Overview
Where do we go when we go to sleep? The little boy in this story is not waiting to find out. He climbs on board a carpet of light and sails into the night. What he finds is a wild array of jacks-in-the boxes doing their exercises, each tickling the other as they pop up. When he visits the land of gladly giving, he discovers the joy of giving and receiving. His next adventure takes him to the land of future greatness. Here he can contemplate the possibilities of who he can beome. And, a night's outting must include a visit to the land of thanksgiving, where everyone is grateful for everything. Setting an intention before falling asleep is a good habit to teach any child. There are many lands to explore and this story sets the imagination stirring. There is a Classic Children's Book aura to this book. I especially enjoyed the notion that a child could invent his or her own future employment/future job. -- M.H. Martin We love this book! The kids really enjoy it and have come up with their own lands to visit on a magic carpet at night. The message is excellent - looking to a bright future while putting the present day to bed. My kids favorite land that is visited in the story is the land of happy surprises.
