OverviewTraditional personal finance books generally promote the same goals for everyone: make as much money as possible, fund your kids' college educations, and save for retirement. These books mechanistically advise us to budget, take out a mortgage, open savings accounts, and so on--without much thought as to who we are as individuals. But is that all? Will that formula make you happy? Good Money is about building a meaningful life, not just a bigger bank account. In this book, investor and author John Coleman offers a new mindset around personal finance, one that puts purpose at its core. He provides a six-part framework for building a relationship with money that leads to human flourishing: Change the way you think about money; Prioritize purpose in your work and career; Spend and consume wisely; Use your means to help others; Invest for maximum impact; and Save for freedom, not retirement. Filled with detailed examples and firsthand interviews as well as guidance on applying these principles to the well-being of your children and family, Good Money walks you through each of these steps, providing helpful--and sometimes counterintuitive--advice on how to use your wealth to flourish, find greater significance, and ensure your actions have the impact you want, now and long into the future. He is the co-CEO at Sovereign's Capital, which invests in public equities, private equity, real estate, and venture capital. He has prior experience at McKinsey & Company, Invesco, and Bridgewater Associates, among others. He is the author of multiple books, including the HBR Guide to Crafting Your Purpose and Passion & Purpose. Coleman and his work have been featured in Harvard Business Review, Forbes, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Financial Times, and the Los Angeles Times. Rob Greenbaum is a professional narrator and voice-over talent in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Before training in narration and voice-over acting, Rob was a public interest lawyer for approximately twenty years. He's well accustomed to explaining complicated matters so that everyday people can understand them. That was essential in his work for a Native American tribe-dealing mostly with environmental law and cultural issues; as well as in his role as a staff attorney at New Mexico Legal Aid, where he handled consumer rights, landlord-tenant, and family law cases for low-income clients. Both experiences made him comfortable discussing anything from highly technical subjects to sensitive matters requiring understanding and compassion. Being a detail-oriented lawyer also taught Rob the importance of developing his knowledge about subjects with which he may not have been familiar previously. Such diligence equally serves him as an audiobook narrator, particularly for nonfiction. But, like any good attorney, Rob knows that information is only worthwhile insofar as it's used to tell an engaging story. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
