Author Information

Steve Rajtar grew up near Cleveland, came to Florida to go to college, and decided to stay. Steve's been involved with the Boy Scouts for over 35 years and is an activity leader with the Florida Trail Association, leading historical walking tours through the communities of Central Florida. He has had 25 books published so far, including Historical Photos of Gainesville, Historical Photos of the University of Florida, A Guide to Historic Gainesville, Remembering the University of Florida, and Remembering Gainesville. Gayle Prince Rajtar is a native Floridian whose family moved to Orlando in 1908. In Gainesville, she worked at a pair of radio stations and spent more time in the stadium on campus than many university athletes -- she worked for the University of Florida College of Journalism while its offices were in the stadium, beneath the seats on the east side of the field. She is the coauthor (with husband Steve) of A Guide to Historic Winter Park, Florida and Winter Park Chronicles, and she has authored more than three dozen articles in Winter Park Magazine on local historical subjects. They live near Seattle.
