Author Information

Kathleen Nord Heinz grew up writing. After earning a BA from the University of Oregon Clark Honors College, she took time off to teach people about childbirth and families, design communications for educators, and help second graders to read and make their own books. Now she's a grandmother and retired teacher and designer who's happy to be writing again with her first published book, ""Going to Meet Dad."" Kathleen and her husband live in Eugene, Oregon, where she keeps paper and pen by her bedside and scribbles down some of her best ideas in the dark. Joan Gilbert loves to create and has moved between illustration, design, stop-motion animation, and fine art. She has illustrated and written numerous books for children and has volunteered with schools and summer camps, engaging kids with art and animation. Having earned a BA from Eastern Oregon University and a BFA in Graphic Design/Illustration from Oregon State University, she is delighted and thankful to have spent her whole career in the arts.
